Wellbeing - Self image and the menopause

Developing My Balls

In December 2017, just before Christmas, I finally decided to give in to my long established desire for an undercut.  My hairdresser was fairly horrified by my request, it will take at least 2 years to re-grow. And, when I’d first floated the idea past a couple of good friends in 2016,  they’d both poo poo’d the idea. I was over 40 for gods sake, not a 20 something irresponsible youth and besides, how hideous would it look (I’m a redhead)!

Menopause Response

It could have been in response to my hysterectomy, which was very free’ing and a strong reminder of that fact I was in the second phase of my life, so “do or say die”. Or, it could be an obvious sign of a mid-life crisis, according to my new therapist. She’s very middle class, I am not surprised she drew that stereotypical conclusion! Its certainly brought out a myriad of reactions from my friends and family, the females largely “love it” but the males are not impressed. The wonderful exception is my Husband, the one I really care about, who likes taking a more diverse woman to bed.

We’re All One

I am just not entirely sure how I managed to sync “my” moment with the rest of the World, but it’s not really a surprise as we’re all connected.

Not into Show business

Whilst researching the exact cut I wanted, I found out that it was a Hollywood trend for women a few years ago; I’d totally missed that.  Then there’s BBC 2’s Peaky Blinders, which certainly brought it back for the boys. I couldn’t get into that show though, so the responsibility cannot be laid at that door.

Revealing my Inner Warrior

Perhaps, I am a victim of subliminal fashion advertising or getting in touch, as I prefer to believe, with my inner warrior. It’s certainly a viking  hairstyle and I have a feisty inner warrior that will no longer apologise for her existence.

Tactile Gratification

Though secretly, I’ve never been able to resist  begging randoms for a touch of their  ‘grade 1s’ and now keep my son’s hair at that length for the sheer tactile pleasure it gives me. So, why not have my own constant gratification? It certainly stops the awkward embarrassing requests to satisfy my crave, or living vicariously and perhaps unfairly through my son.

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Essential Oils for Self Acceptance & Expression

Being yourself, and letting the World see you as you truly are inside, requires a lot of inner strength. We have a culture where we like to pull down and attack those that radiate self acceptance, a projection of their own fears and nothing more. So, it can be wise to oil yourself up before facing your public, to help you to feel grounded in your self expression and remind you that it’s not you, it’s their shit.

For this I recommend tree or root essential oils, like Cedarwood, Douglas fir, Vetiver, Cypress, Frankincense or Ginger. Peppermint is also really fabulous for grounding and blowing those fears away.

Buying Essential Oils

The world of Essential Oils is not equal, it is unregulated and only 8% of the ingredient needs to be present for it to be marketed as pure. This means that if you are thinking you’re getting an absolute bargain by paying next to nothing, which I used to think, you’re really not.

They are precious medicine, extremely versatile, so what appears expensive in the first instance is actually very cheap. I’ve done the research for you, I sell the very best, purest Essential Oils, you can buy them directly from my shop.

It’s always best to purchase Essential Oils from someone you can trust, who knows what they’re talking about and can be contacted for additional information. It’s always best to purchase Essential Oils from someone you can trust, who knows what they’re talking about and can be contacted for additional information.

Essential Oil Workshops

I run essential oil workshops, which can be done online, for anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge of Essential Oils and the best ways to use them in your life.
