Number 13 is Divinely Feminine and Magical - It’s time to reclaim 13

As we high tail it towards another Friday 13th, I feel compelled to quickly dispel the rumours that the number 13 means bad luck! Collective opinion is that it does mean bad luck and this fearful, malaligned energy darkens the magic of 13. This fear is known as Triskaidekaphobia and it’s everywhere, housing estates, hotels where it simply doesn’t appear! Triskaidekaphobia has led to ridiculous idiocracies like lifts with no number 13 and hotels will no room number 13!

In the good old days, before the advent of Christianity, 13 was a girl! 13 is a Divinely Feminine number, which is evident in our annual 13 full moon cycles. And, La Lune is definitely "une femme"; check 13x28=364.

Where did the fear of Number 13 come from?

We can point a finger at the misogynistic Christians, because they are responsible for moving from Moon worship to "Sun" (aka son) worship and thus created the Solar calendar. This got rid of the problem of at least one of those pesky feminine 13 moons, and fitted far more comfortably with their superimposed festival calendar.

They proceeded to damn number 13 and make out like she was something nasty, to be feared and evil, their depiction of the Last Supper a case in point.

Do You Fear Number 13?

The fear has been ingrained into our culture hasn't it! Reinforced by these bizarre building practices and horror movies. The latter created to reinforce the darkness around poor number 13.

Number 13 is Coming of Age

In the West, Number 13 is hallowed as the first coming of age, the arrival of puberty and is the age of consent in some countries. I held my daughter’s coming of age party on her 13th Birthday, when I got a circle of elder women she admired and loved to come together and talk to her about the magic and responsibility of becoming a woman. Number 13 is the number of the Great Goddess, Mother Nature, now is the time to give her some love and seem what magic transposes instead.
